CBK Hardware, the leading home improvement and hardware industry partner, partnered with the Bukas Palad Foundation Philippines last January for improved nutrition by conducting a feeding program in Pasay City.
The Bukas Palad Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides sustainable development, education, livelihood, information, and communication strategies to children, the elderly, urban poor communities, victims of calamities, and disasters. The foundation also serves the community through its comprehensive programs and services such as an early childhood education program and a feeding program. The foundation’s feeding program offers warm nutritious meals to help improve the nutrition and weight of undernourished children, the elderly, pregnant women, and tuberculosis patients.
This initiative aims to align with the UN SDG goals on Zero Hunger goal that aims to end hunger, achieve food security, and improve nutrition. The one-day feeding program was started with heartwarming CBKians from the Document Processing Center (DPC) and Service departments leading the warm-up exercise activity.
They also heeded the #CalltoBeKind as they prepared and served snacks to the children of the Bukas Palad Foundation community. Children were treated with snacks and home-cooked meals and filled with smiles and gratitude from the CBK volunteers.
The fun continued as CBKians distributed art kits to the children of Bukas Palad Foundation and let them express themselves by engaging in an art activity. There were also fun games and prizes given to the children.
To culminate the activity, CBK Hardware’s Special Assistant to the Vice Presidents, Ms. Lizel Abraham, led the turnover of donations to the Bukas Palad Foundation Philippines, wherein hygiene kits and home improvement items from Westinghouse, 3M, and Scotch Brite were donated for their cleaning needs.
This feeding program is just one of the exciting examples of how CBK is making lives better through its CSR program. The company will continue to help improve the health status of less fortunate children by bringing nutrition closer with one help at a time.
